DSI to seek warrants for 2,400 loan shark suspects | Bangkok Post: news


(Bangkok Post file photo)The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) will begin seeking court warrants for the arrest of about 2,400 people suspected of involvement in the country's biggest loan shark network, run by Wichai Panngam, deputy permanent secretry for justice Dusadee Arayawuthi said on Tuesday. Pol Col Dusadee said he would brief Justice Minister Suwaphan Tanyuvardhana next week on the progress in the DSI investigation of the Wichai case. An arrest warrant is out for Mr Wichai, who is on the run and believed to be overseas. Pol Col Dusadee said it would taken about a month to verify the officials' names and positions. He said prosecutors assigned to the investigation felt that any people found to have transferred money to Mr Wichai should be called in for questioning.
